My Time is Valuable or Why I Hate Sony Products

A lesson for electronics firm ... my time is HUGELY valuable, and failing to respect it will cost you customers. Pretty obvious but apparently forgotten by many firms (Sony and Panasonic to name two). Examples? Easy ... We have a Sony DVD Player power on ... and in cheerfully blinks "loading ... loading ..." wait 15 seconds or longer. I bought a moderately priced Sony Audio Shelf System that nearly leads me to blow a fuse on any action taken. "Welcome" flashes for a dozen times before it becomes responsive to any action such as "Play" on the CD. I was thrilled when the cost of Blu-Ray players dropped below $300, bought one from Panasonic. I cannot stand to use this device. 2 minutes or more to load a Blu-Ray disk (even after updating firmware), fails to retain playback position between power on / off, and overall is so slow that I look forward to smashing it once I replace it. I suspect the Panasonic is a Sony at heart.

If you are designing hardware, don't cut costs at the expense of responsiveness to end users. It applies to electronics as well as a websites. I've sworn off Sony proucts
